The Guy just has no luck at all.
Hope he can turn it around and become an NHL player again next year.
Good Luck Crazy Eyes Clarkson. |

Clarkson won't get any better. I think he tries hard enough and means well but the game is getting faster and faster and he is getting older and older.
Best case he can be an effective third or fourth liner, probably the latter. But I guess since you are paying the salary that is better than nothing |

Columbus may legitimately have been better off keeping Horton.
On one hand, yea, you're paying out of pocket for a guy who isn't playing, and it sucks.
But on the other hand, it's better than paying a guy you wish wasn't playing. |

Whenever Clarky was at his best in NJ, he was a big difference maker in our lineup. Banging bodies, doing all the little things to wear the opponent down and then score a big goal. He definitely doesn't warrant a contract north of 5 million, but if you were him you would definitely take that any day of the week. The best thing he can do is keep his head down and go to work, he's a heart and soul guy that will help the team anyway possible. |

If Clarkson falls on LTIR and is insured (no doubt ) then it's actually a better trade for us. |

Somewhere/Somehow he has lost his mojo. I hope he can get it back but I think the train has left the station |

It's hard to figure out whatever happened to this guy! I think when he signed with Toronto the media filled his head with too much Wendel Clark B.S.! Calling him the next Wendel, people calling him Wendel Clarkson. Over time I believe he thought he had to fill Wendel's shoes and fight all the time because that's what he thought the media and fans wanted and it took hom away from the way he normally played the game! It may take a while but he needs to get back to being David Clarkson.... not Wendel Clark!
Hopefully next season for his sake he can finally get back to being a productive hockey player again and regain his form. |

Fair enough, but did they have time to insure him?
(I legitimately don't know how insurance works with sports contracts, does it get traded with the player?) |

Good question , on http://hfboards.hockeysfu.../showthread.php?t=1848535 some users are saying his contract is insured , but I don't know if they are saying that to do some leafs bashing.
edit: but like you I am clueless to the finer intricacies of contracts beyond NTC's and NMC's . |
